Aachen Cathedral :
Aachen’s most famous attraction is Aachen Cathedral which was built by Charlemagne in AD 796. It is the most famous example of occidental architecture and modelled after the Basilica of San Vitale, in Ravenna, Italy. It was the church of coronation for 30 German Kings and 12 queens and burial site of Charlemagne. It became a major pilgrimage site for Christians and Cathedral church of the Aachen since 1930. In 1978 Cathedral of Aachen became the first German historical Architecture to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage site.
Rathaus:
Old gothic town hall built on the foundation of ruined palace of Charlemagne in 1330. Visitors can see coronation hall on the first floor and five famous frescoes made by Alfred Rethel, depicting legendary life scenes of Charlemagne. It also contains replicas of Imperial Crown jewels as well as the gothic and baroque furniture of the building.
Elisenbrunen:
Elisenbrunnen is the symbol of the spa town of Aachen. Neo-classical hall made of white marble covering city’s fountains.
Couven Museum:
Couven Museum exhibits life style of middle class people during 18th and 19th Century. It has great collection of furniture, precious objects for interior design, kitchen utensils and decorated tiles.
Dreiländer Punkt:
Dreiländer Punkt is the place where three neighbouring countries Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium meet. It is the highest point of the Netherlands. From the nearby observation tower people can enjoy the beautiful panoramic view of Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium on three different directions. ut you.
Monschau:
It is a beautiful and small resort town in North Eifel region near Aachen. This old town attracts many tourists during spring and summer time for its rejuvenating climate and beautiful sceneries. This fully preserved old resort town has more than 300 year old half-timbered houses and grand mansions, narrow streets and stone pavements. It is also famous for old brewery museum and glass factories.
